BLACK HISTORY MONTH
October is Black History Month in the UK.
Events celebrating African and Caribbean cultures will take place across the UK throughout October.
During October, in your lessons you will be learning about the contributions of black people in the UK and across the world and the importance of BHM in 2020.
What is Black History Month?
Black History Month started in the UK in the 1980s. It is about celebrating the history and culture of African and Caribbean people.
For much of history this is a story that has not been told, it has been left out and hidden or just focused on the horrors of the African Slave Trade. Black History Month is a way of digging deeper and looking closer so that the full and amazing stories of Black History are known and remembered.
Get ready to dig deeper, look closer and think bigger!
