Wright Robinson College are delighted to announce an new incentive which will allow Year 9 students to start participating in their Bronze DofE Award.  Whilst the current lockdown is in place Year 9 students will be able to start working towards their Bronze DofE Award.  Students need to complete a maximum of one hour each week for each of the following three activities for 12 weeks. Students then select just one of the activities to complete for a further 12 weeks:-

  • Physical
  • Skills
  • Volunteering

When considering what activities to select, students can get some ideas at but should remember to adhere to the current government guidelines whilst the country is in lockdown and pick activities that are achievable at home.  For example you may want to take three months of Free Guitar Lessons at Fender or do a Foreign Language courses which are available at Duolingo or starting on 25th March, is launching its Code Break program – a free, live weekly webcast where members of the team teach coding and computer science to children and adults. The team will also be setting weekly challenges for beginners, experienced coders and even students without computers. You can sign up to receive each week’s Code Break via email here.

Students should take photographs or videos of their activities in order for them to collect evidence of what they are doing. This can then be verified by a member of staff when they return to school.
