FREE SCHOOL MEALS – Asda Voucher Scheme
The college is to introduce an Asda Voucher Scheme from Wednesday 25th March for students eligible for Free School Meals
Unfortunately, due to government advice many cafes and food outlets are now closing. We have been informed this morning that Subway intends to close all of its premises nationally at the end of business today.
As a result, we will not be able to provide a Free School Meal tomorrow for students who selected Subway as their choice of venue for meal collection.
Yummies Café and Mount Road Café are continuing to provide a service to our students as normal.
On Wednesday 25th March the college will offer to provide all students eligible for a Free School Meal with a £25 voucher redeemable at any ASDA store. Having analysed our demographic, Asda stores appear to be the most accessible for the majority of our students.
Students accessing food at Yummies and Mount Road Café will not be entitled to a voucher.
The vouchers will be distributed from college. A timetable is included in this letter stipulating times when students from different year groups can attend college to collect their voucher.
Siblings can collect additional vouchers for brothers and/or sisters who attend the college and who are also eligible for a Free School Meal.
In terms of practicality and mindful of ‘Social Spacing’ and the Health and Well Being of everyone the collections will be made from Surname Signposted Stations set up on the main college car park.
If parents are driving students to college to collect a voucher they must wait on the college’s overflow car park and not leave the vehicle.
Vouchers can be collected on Wednesday 25th March only at the following times;-
Year 7 Students – 9am to 9.45am.
Year 8 Students – 10am to 10.45am.
Year 9 Students – 11am to 11.45am.
Year 10 Students – 12 Noon to 12.45am.
Year 11 Students – 1pm to 1.45pm.
Please note the vouchers are only available to students eligible for Free School Meals.
The voucher will ensure that monies have been made available to students for the period up to and including Friday 3rd April at which point the Easter Holidays would normally commence. Hopefully by that time a national initiative may be in place to facilitate provision for student’s eligible for Free School Meals. If not it is highly likely we will repeat the voucher scheme.
Apologies for any inconvenience, the college is doing everything it can to support our students and their families at this challenging time. Take care.
Mr M Haworth
