National Voucher Scheme 14.04.20

Department for Education – Free School Meals National Voucher Scheme

Dear Parent/Carer

The Government has recently introduced a national voucher scheme to support families eligible for Free School Meals.

As you are aware the College has provided families with a monetary voucher for students who are eligible for a free school meal to cover the period up to and including Friday 3rd April 2020. Over the Easter Holiday period, the college signed up to the Manchester City Council scheme to which parent and carers could apply on line to secure financial support for free school meals. This scheme will stop on Friday 17th April and will be proceeded by the new national voucher scheme.

The new national voucher scheme which will provide students’ eligible for free school meals an eGift card (voucher) to the value of £60 (£15 per week) per child for a four week period, Monday 20th April to Friday 15th May. This process will continue for as long as the government restrictions are in place.

‘Edenred’ will manage and distribute the eGift card (voucher) electronically on behalf of the Government’s free school meals voucher scheme.

Please note that the eGift card (voucher) will be sent to the email address of the parent/carers that the college holds on the system. As you are aware the college has sent out two text messages recently asking parents to provide or update this information. Unfortunately in the current situation we are not in a position to make changes to email addresses. Once you have received an email from Edenred, please follow the instructions within the email.

For those parents/carers who have not provided the college with an email address the college will post the eGift card out to you as soon as possible.

The Department for Education and Edenred have provided a parent/carer Frequently Asked Questions document which can be found using the link below:

After reading through the FAQs document, should any family still experience difficulty in accessing the scheme please email the college at

I appreciate that these are unprecedented times and I once again thank you for your continued support.
